The Shut DESO campaign has been a long and varied one that has been a core CAAT issue since 1976 when CAAT started. Now, thanks to the support and hard work of many, DESO is to close.

the Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and the Green Party as with more than 30 organizations including CND, the Fellowship of Reconciliation, SPEAK and Quaker Peace & Social Witness along with many individuals have already signed a statement calling for DESO's closure

More than 400 MPs received a postcard from their constituents calling for the closure of DESO and around 80 were lobbied in person.

Articles highlighting DESO's activities have been published in the Guardian, the Observer and in the Holborn and Bloomsbury Messenger.

More than 250 people took part in CAAT's Action Day on 16th October 2006 to designate DESO's headquarters as a 'global danger zone'.

Over 10,000 petition signatures calling for the closure of DESO were handed to the Chief Secretary of the Treasury on March 7th 2007.
