Sheffield Students Union Pass Motion Calling for Divestment

The Students Union at Sheffield University has passed a motion calling on their university to divest from the arms trade. The motion was passed by a solid majority.

More explicitly, the Union has declared that it is opposed to the university dealing with the arms trade in any form. This includes through shareholding, research funding and their presence at career fairs. Union members are now to begin lobbying for the implementation of a broad ethical investment policy.
