From 8-11 September, DSEi, the world's largest arms fair, will return to London. It exists so that arms buyers and sellers can come together, network and make deals. Government support - provided through the UK Trade & Investment Defence & Security Organisation, UKTI DSO - is crucial to the success of DSEi and its continued existence. It's time to end the arms fair, and end the government support that makes it possible. |

Meet at the ExCeL Centre in London's Docklands for a rally to protest at the fair's opening. Then hitch a ride on the CAAT bus to take our message into central London. We'll be holding our own fayre on the doorstep of UKTI DSO, the government department that supports the arms fair. 11am: Meet at the Western Entrance of the ExCeL centre, by Tidal Basin Rd. Royal Victoria DLR station: See it on a map. Depart ExCeL at 12 noon, to arrive in Central London at approximately 1pm. During the drive to the UKTI DSO offices, we're having a guided tour pointing out some of the nastier places in London and their connections to the arms trade. 1-3pm. Outside UKTI offices, Kingsgate House, 66-74 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6SW. See it on a map
Visit our UKTI DSEi page for the latest information on CAAT's plans and for a list of all the other activities taking place during DSEi.
We only have limited places on the CAAT buses, so book your place by emailing Sarah. If you want to make your own way to Victoria Street, take the DLR from Royal Victoria DLR Station (towards Blackwall) to Canning Town Underground Station. From Canning Town take the Jubilee Line (towards Stanmore, Willesden Green or Wembley Park) to Westminster Underground Station. From Westminster, Take the District Line (towards Ealing, Wimbledon or Richmond) or the Circle Line (towards Victoria) to St. James Park.
There are NO public toilets in the vicintiy of Royal Victoria DLR. The nearest toilets are at the Garden Community Cafe, 7 Cundy Road, E16 near Prince Regent DLR, or Canning Town Station. Victoria Street is well-served by public toilets.
Bring your own lunch to eat on the bus or picnic outside UKTI offices – or there are plenty of sandwich shops and cafes on Victoria Street.
Involvement in organising and participation in CAAT's demonstrations and protests is conditional on accepting the need to remain non-violent at all times. This principle is at the core of our guidance for involvement in CAAT actions.
Read CAAT's action guidelines.
One and other is the project of sculptor Antony Gormley who is asking the people of the UK to occupy the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, space normally reserved for statues of kings and generals, in an image of themselves and a representation of humanity. Participants are chosen by lot and represent all areas of the UK.
"Nevermind art - disarm the arms trade."
That's the message of one plinther Quinnie on the eve of the arms fair.
Join our flash-mob style installation in support:
