The world's largest arms fair, DSEi 2009 featured:
25,170 attendees from 98 countries, 1280 Exhibitors from 40 countries, 27 National pavilions, 70 Official delegations from 49 countries, and 12 Senior UK VIPs (including Secretary of State for Defence and ministers).

Common British exhibitors include:

Bigger than ever, new features of DSEi 2011 include:

The Gulf Defence and Aerospace exhibition (GDA) showcases land, air, and sea weapons systems as well as 'homeland security' equipment. The arms fair will feature some of the world's biggest arms companies and will be attended by government and military staff from countries recently invovled in the violent suppression of pro-democracy protesers.

Military delegations

The Official Brochure for the GDA arms fair claims senior military and government staff from Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates will be attending.

Equipment for sale

The arms fair will focus particularly on, amoung other things: Armored vehicles, weapons systems and ammunition, anti-aircraft and anti-tank defence systems, Unmanned drones, military aircraft, and intelligence services equipment.

UKTI involvement

"UKTI DSO's presence at GDA will maintain and increase the profile of the UK defence and security sector in Kuwait and wider Gulf states. It will demonstrate our support for Kuwait and our interest in future procurement, in particular, the security sector where there are huge prospects.
DSO Participation: The UK HMG team will be led by Lord Astor accompanied by Lt Gen Simon Mayall, the Defence Senior Adviser to the Middle East, supported by UKTI DSO's AVM Maddox. The UKTI DSO stand will include an Equipment Support Team demonstration area."

UKTI are organising a two day trade mission to Tripoli. UKTI have already invited a Libyan security delegation to the UK on behalf of the PM’s Executive Office. Libya is seeking UK advice on electronic support, the development of a national identity database and border control. Priorities for the mission include security, police & border management, and the Integration/re-training of revolutionary armed groups

The Trade Mission will be led by a UK Defence Minister and Dr Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence, is leading for the Indian Government. The mission will visit Delhi for the overarching Indian government perspective, Bangalore for aerospace systems and Mumbai for naval and land systems.

14-19 Febuary 2012:
Singapore Airshow 2012, Singapore

The Singapore Airshow is one of the biggest events of the year for the military aircraft market. The 2012 Airshow will have a special focus on Unmanned drones (UAVs) with companies such as General Atomics showcasing their controversial Predator drone, in additon to military aircraft and weapons systems. Predator drones have been used with deadly effect in Pakistan, Libya, and Iraq.

UKTI involvement
UKTI are promoting the event as part of their Exhibitons Programme for 2011/2012 and are offering funding to attend the show of between £ 1,000 and £ 1,800.

International Armoured Vehicles, Farnborough

International Armoured Vehicles will take place at the FIVE venue in Farnborough, Hampshire. Attending the event will be officials from the Israeli Defence Force, the Egyptian Army, and the People's Liberation army of China. UKTI DSO and the UK MOD will be present. There will also be a conference on Land warfare taking place.

Public Security Exhibition, Turkey

Organised by the arms industry body ADS, this one-day event will be open to the Armed Forces, Turkish National Police, Gendarmerie, border and coast guard units and intelligence organisations amongst others. It is only open to UK companies and Visitors to the exhibition will be invited by the British Embassy in Ankara.

5-9 March 2012:
UKTI Trade Mission, El Salvador and Guatemala

UKTI are supporting and ADS trade mission to El Salvador and Guatemala. The focus will be on the public and private security sector. The two countries face serious challenges from organised crime, the drug trade, corruption, and armed gangs. The mission is supported by the British Embassy.

DEFEXPO is a biennial arms fair organised by the Indian Ministry of Defence. It showcases land, naval, and internal security systems. UKTI will offer funding for smaller arms companies to attend and will be attending.

LAAD, Brazil

LAAD is organised by Clarion Events, the company responsible for the controversial DSEi arms fair in London. The fair will feature weapons, unmanned systems, military vehicles and aircraft, and security equipment. Officials from the police, military and prison services, along with individuals from corporate security services, will be attending. The fair is supported by the UK government and there will be a UK pavillion. UKTI DSO are offering funding of up to £ 1800 for companies to attend.

Defence Services Asia 2012, Malaysia

Defence Services Asia (DSA) is one of the larger arms fairs and is supported by UKTI DSO, who will have a stand at the fair. Visitors to the 2010 DSA fair included officals from Bahrain, China, Eqypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Korea. The 2010 arms fair was also attended by a high-profile UK delegation including then-Secretary of State for Defence Bob Ainsworth MP and the Head of the government arms sales unit UKTI DSO Richard Paniguian.
