The event is special not only because it's one of the largest of its kind in the world, but also for its part in the Bicentennial celebration of Chile's independence from Spain. Exponaval is taking place in Valparaiso from 30 November - 03 December 2010.

Organiser

Exponaval 2010 is organised by the Chilean Navy and FISA and sponsored by the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, the Municipality of the Fifth Region and the municipalities of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso.

Size

The current Exponaval is expected to be the largest and most significant so far. Since 1998, when the first was held, the numbers have been rising. Last held in 2008, there were 8,000 visitors and 126 exhibitors, and the fair reached nearly US$ 600 million, according to organisers. This year however, invited delegations from 67 countries, more than 20,000 visitors and 150 foreign and national exhibitors are expected to come.

Delegations

Countries in attendance include China, Colombia, Guatemala, India, Israel, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, South Africa and Turkey. Delegations from nontraditional states, such as Brunei, Indonesia, Oman, Qatar or Ukraine are regarded as highlights. International representatives act for Australia, Canada, Chile, France-Greece-Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
